11/16/2008 - Westwood, CaliforniaThe Victor Pineda Foundation held a fundraiser in Los Angeles. Three bands participated and our movies were shown. A small auction was held which raised money for our educational initiatives.

10/31/2008 Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Victor Pineda Foundation will be partnering with CALIF on developing the Los Angeles "ED CENTER".The local independent living center supports people with disabilities by providing resources and services to Angelinos with disabilitities.The Ed Center will bring together civic leaders and NGO representatives and develop programs and curriculums that can be implemented in local Los Angeles Area Schools. The LA Unified School District has been selected as a possible future partner for the project. The Ed Center has the ability to impact school kids with and without disabilities by supporting innovative educational programs for young people with and without disabilities.

10/26/2008 Burbank, CaliforniaVictor Pineda participated as the keynote speaker at the 2008 Annual Jazz brunch fundraiser and awards, benefiting Computech for Humanity. Computech for Humanity provides access to technology by restoring used computers and donating them to hard-working families and people living with disabilities. The Victor Pineda Foundation shares Computech's vision of a world where young people can acheive their potential through the use of technology. Both organizations pledged to work together to fill the education and technology gap that young people with disabilities face.

10/25/2008 Malibu, CaliforniaThe Victor Pineda Foundation and other artists with disabilities participated in Pepperdine University's celebration of Disability Awareness Month.With Auti Angel performing hip-hop and signing, and Tommy Hollinger painting with his wheelchair, the students at Pepperdine University left feeling inspired and gained a new perspecitve on disability media, arts and culture. Our founder, Victor Pineda gave a personal account of his own life and his journey in documenting the lives of people with disabilities all over the world. The event closed off with VPF Artist in Residence Toby Forrest and Citizen in an amazing rock-n-roll performance.

10/15/2008 Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Disability Media Initiative (DMI) one of the projects of the Victor Pineda Foundation (VPF) held a display of "Its Our Flag" a conceptual art installation that brings together the voices and stories of the disability community. It was on display at the Los Angeles City Hall and was partly sponsored by Californians living independent and free (CALIF).

10/17/2008 Los Angeles, CaliforniaThe Victor Pineda Foundation sponsored the exhibit of "Its Our Flag" at the UCLA campus. Over 4,000 undergraduates passed by and were introduced to disability history and listened to excerpts of the archive. The Victor Pineda Foundation is the fiscal sponsor of the Disability Media Initiative (DMI) and has helped grow the initiative over the past few years. Scott Cooper will be touring the flag across the United States generating and growing new members for to renew our history, culture and pride.
