Voices, Vision, Visibility
While there has been a relatively wide emphasis on the importance of making various forms of cultural materials accessible to people with disabilities, there has been little attention paid to the lack of disabled artists present in decision-making positions. To close this gap we emphasize the role of disabled people in making culture as well as enjoying it.
One of our main programs, arts and creativity, is mainstreamed throughout all of our projects, which include specific exhibitions, using art forms for non formal education, supporting artists with disabilities, and advocating for inclusion of people with disabilities in cultural decision making positions. This attention to arts and creativity is an effort to highlight the rights of people with disabilities to all spheres of life including one of the most marginalized aspects, which are cultural activities.
