Programs: Research

Research Thematic Area Description

The lack of data and research in understanding disability issues has contributed to inadequate policies and inefficient public programs. Legislators have an obligation to implement sustainable, inclusive and cost-effective programs and policies for young people with disabilities. New interdisciplinary research approaches to inclusive development are necessary to address disability rights in a comprehensive way.

This need is recognized by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Article 4 f & g), which notes that in order for states to fully realize the rights of people with disabilities, states are obligated to support innovative research that will study disability issues. We have performed research on behalf of the World Bank, the Government of Serbia, and other international organizations as well as several academic institutions.
