The Victor Pineda Foundation

Programs: Education

Education Thematic Area Description

Ninety percent of children with disabilities in developing countries do not attend school. The Victor Pineda Foundation dedicates a large amount of time working on the ground by sharing our experiences, research findings and fieldwork with policy makers, opinion leaders, and peer educators. All these approaches have helped improve conditions for young people with disabilities.

VPF develops educational products, videos, curriculums, and educational toolkits that promote inclusive education at both, local and global levels. In addition, we partner with UN specialized organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, UNOHCHR to adapt human rights materials and make them accessible to the wider public. A significant and pressing challenge exists in creating culturally specific educational and training materials that are based on a human rights approach aiming to transform discriminatory practices associated with disability.
